Arts Alive, under the direction of Mrs. Wanda Stewart and assisted by Mrs. Kelly Pennell, is open to children in grades 3 – 6. The students meet twice each week, learn about the theater and work on special skills. Each year, the students have three presentations – a fall performance, a religious interpretive piece at Christmas time, and a performance in the spring.
Nativity School is proud to host a Robotics Team for students in grades 5 and 6. As part of First Lego League, students plan and carry out tasks related to the national theme for the year. Students learn to program a robot, prepare a presentation for judging and learn and practice core values of leadership, cooperation and critical thinking. The program is led by parent volunteers, guided by Mrs. Debbie Worrel of St. Patrick High School, and is assisted by St. Patrick High School students.
In addition, grades 3 and 4 participate in Lego League, where the foundation for Robotics is established. It is led by Nativity faculty members.
The Nativity School Choir, under the direction of Mr. Terry Maddox with the assistance of Mrs. Nanette Burke, is open to boys and girls in grades 2 through 6. Students work with Mr. Maddox and Mrs. Burke on Thursdays after school. The choir leads the singing at school masses and celebrations as well as at the Sunday Liturgy at Nativity Cathedral several times each year. The Choir has been invited to perform at several community events and holds both a Christmas and Spring Concert.
Mr. Terry conducts Cantor Academy, where chosen students are given special instuctions on the structure of liturgical music as it relates to leading the mass in song. Teams of cantors are formed to lead the choir at school masses and children's masses held at the Cathedral.
The Nativity Saints Basketball team began in January 2015 and continues under the guidance of several parent-coaches. Boys and Girls in grades 2 through 6 are eligible to participate. Practices are generally in the evening at the school. The Nativity Saints play games with other local Catholic elementary schools.
The Nativity Spirit Squad, formed in August 2015, is open to boys and girls in grades 1 through 6. The purpose of the squad is to provide “spirited support” of our school at assemblies, basketball games and special events. The squad, under the direction of several parents, has cheered at several games and school events and has participated in some community-wide parades.
Violin, strings and piano lessons are available at the school under the guidance of Dr. Tim Bergman. Classes for children in Kindergarten through grade 6 are provided either individually or in small groups several days per week near the end of the school day. Payment and scheduling are arranged directly with Dr. Bergman. Dr. Bergman brings with him extensive experience working with children in schools and community groups as well as young adult experience working at the college level.
Instrumental and Guitar lessons are available at the school under the guidance of Mr. Terry Maddox. Classes for children in grade 1 through 6 are provided either individually or in small groups several days per week after school. Payment and scheduling are arranged directly with Mr. Maddox. Mr. Maddox comes to Nativity School with many years of experience working with young musicians in various school settings.
