I came to Nativity in 2011, after retiring from the Biloxi Public School District. I have formerly taught science, physical education and coached girls’ basketball and track at the junior high level. I am a native of Biloxi and I attended Biloxi Public Schools. After attending MS Gulf Coast Community College and Delta State University, I earned a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi.I believe, as most of us realize, that the ability to read well is the most important skill that our children must master. It is not only a necessary component that will enable them to do well in school, but also, serves as a stepping stone that will continue to make them successful in their adult life. Research tells us that good readers can develop vital language skills, can improve their eye-hand coordination, and can enhance their social skills. I like to quote a friend of mine who said, “The more you read; the better you read.”I have been married to a wonderful man for over thirty years and we are blesses with a daughter and a son. I enjoy reading, listening to music, being outdoors; and I love water activities such as fishing and snorkeling.
