Joshua Bozeman attended Nativity BVM Catholic School during his elementary years. As a student, Josh enjoyed school and was always involved in physical education and sports of every kind. He could be seen during recess or PE actively involved in whatever activity was taking place. As a fifth grader, Joshua went through a life-altering experience. He was diagnosed with bone cancer and underwent extensive surgery on his hip, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy.
Josh went on to attend and graduation from Mercy Cross High School where he proudly played baseball and participated in school activities. Sadly, on January 12, 2006, Joshua Bozeman, along with five others, were killed in an automobile accident.
The Joshua Bozeman Courage Award honors a participant of the Nativity Track Meet who exemplifies courage, bravery, and dedication despite physical, emotional, or educational challenges. Each school who participates in the track meet is invited to submit the name of one athlete from their school who is participating in the event and is deserving of this award. Nominees of all the schools will be reviewed, and Joshua’s parents, Pam and Mike Bozeman will award a special plaque to the recipient at the start of the track meet.
