WEEK 1

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Lord, there are so many things in my life that I don’t understand,
so many questions about the future that I need to ask.

What is Your plan for me?
What is the work You want me to do?

All I really know is that You love me.
Show me the road You want me to walk –
to fulfillment, to happiness, to holiness.

Amen.

WEEK 2

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Lord, my God and my loving Father, I will do what you want of me.

Send your Holy Spirit to me:

– into my mind, to show me what you want of me;

– into my heart, to give me the determination to do it, and to do it with all my love, with all my mind, and

– with all of my strength right to the end.

Jesus, I trust in you.

Amen

WEEK 3

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Eternal God,
from my mother’s womb
you have known and loved me
more than I can ever know.

I ask for the wisdom to know your will for me,
and like our Blessed Mother,
I ask for the strength to say yes.

May I find you in every person I meet, and may my life so shine forthyour goodness and love that each person may be led to youthrough Jesus, your Son, who is Lord, forever and ever.

Amen.

WEEK 4

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

God, I know You love me and have great plans for me. But sometimes I am overwhelmed by the thought of my future. Show me how to walk forward one day at a time.

May I take heart while I search openly, learn about all the choices, listen to others for advice, and pay attention to my own feelings. By doing these things, may I hear your call to a lifestyle and a career that will let me love as only I can, and let me serve others with the special gifts that You have given me.

Amen

WEEK 5

Prayer to Discern a Vocation
Lord, I thank You for the gifts You have given me, especially for life, love, family and friends.

Help me to know myself better and to know my talents, as I pray, study and decide on my life’s work.

Help me to see and understand the path You open for me. Help me choose a life’s work which will be in response to my potential and your love for me.

If I am being invited to follow You as a priest, brother, sister, give me a generous heart to respond to your challenging call and the strength to follow You wherever You lead me.
Amen.

WEEK 6

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Almighty God,
You have given me the gift of life,
and the gift of your Holy Spirit.
For these incredible gifts, I thank you.
Help me to use them well.

Deepen within me a desire to do your will.
Help me to hear and answer your call to serve you.
Guide me to the vocation you have chosen for me,
as a loving spouse and parent in the Sacrament of Marriage, as a single person living a life of generous service,or through a special call to serve you in Religious Life or the Priesthood.

May your Holy Spirit keep me always close to your Son Jesus, and help me to say yes to Him
with the gift of my life.

Amen

WEEK 7

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Gracious Lord, thank You for the blessings of this day. Continue to be near to me, and help me to understand my vocation. You have blessed me with many gifts and talents which I want to use to serve You and the Church. Help me to know how best to serve.

“Come, follow me,” Jesus has told us. I want to follow, but I am not sure of the right path. Help me to make the right choices. You have blessed me, Lord, and I am grateful. Help me to see in myself what You see and give me the strength to follow my vocation.
Amen

WEEK 8

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Lord, my God and my loving Father,
you have made me to know you, to love you, to serve you,
and thereby to find and to fulfill myself.
I know that you are in all things,
and that every path can lead me to you.
But of them all, there is one especially
by which you want me to come to you.
Since I will do what you want of me,
I pray you, send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind,
to show me what you want of me; into my heart,
to give me the determination to do it,
and to do it with all my love, with all my mind,
and with all my strength right to the end.

Amen
